Project Description- To transform a manual mailing system for letter mail and brochures to an automated electronic mail system with a web and phone interface.
Problem Statement- Currently ZZZ Inc, a worldwide mail service company has subcontracted its business to Fedex and UPS, to deliver an average of 70,000 Pieces of mail per month. Project Details
Based on the problems facing Huskie Air Charter (described in the project background), we came up with recommendations to build a decision support system to centralize scheduling operations at Husky Air.
Entries will now be made to the system via a web interface front-end which allows clients to make reservations as well as receive online confirmations of their planned travel schedule by email.
The new system enables round-the-clock access to our reservation system by clients as well as streamlines the scheduling of flights, pilots work hours as well as provide management with a tool to make decisions involving procurement of new infrastructure, offering frequent flyer discounts and other decisions to grow the business.
Methodology
Build all tables using Microsoft Access 97, which also acts as our data warehouse. The Access tables are combined and then used in Visual Basic where we will design various forms for entering information on sales, travel information, aircraft and pilot scheduling e.t.c Write codes in Visual Basic to calculate Airfare, assign available aircrafts and pilots, schedule aircraft maintenance as well as create reports for top management. Visual Basic acts as our mini ERP package.
That's an overview of our project in a nutshell. Please feel free to contact me at rnamme for more details
